The inner is fleece, the outer side is a less-stretchy woven (rather than knit) nylon. It's practically windproof and water-and-snow-proof. I use them without gators usually, unless there's lots of powder snow. Although the regular weight seems perfect for cold weather, there is also a light-weight version available. |

Finally there is the first layer Powder dry fabric in a stretchy version; and because there's no lycra, it dries faster. They feel almost like cotton and are great for yoga.
